Angling on Læsø

The first catches are usually reported from Læsø, after which the fish spread through Danish waters

You can fish in the sea from the coast or from the harbour piers in Østerby and Vesterø. You can catch many types of fish here, including sea trout from March to November. Try sea fishing from the boat Seadog, which embarks from Vesterø.

Læsø's fishing opportunities are great, and the island's rocky shores attract a large numbers of sea trout throughout most of the year. The most famous spots to catch fish are located on both sides of Østerby Harbor, and especially the coast west is characterized by huge rocks on the beach, which continue far out into the water. Here the darker areas consist of plenty of good rocks which make for the finest places for sea trout to linger.

A new territory(?) for fish starts at the easten side of the harbour, at Danzigmand. Here, you find a couple of exciting kilometres of coast, and further out towards the lighthouse, you can find a stretch of sandy bottom where current conditions often attract herring and sandeel.

At Læsø's northern coast, there are several really good spots to catch flatfish such as plaice, sole, brill and turbot as well as sea trout and cod. The hornfish arrive in May in very large numbers and can be caught along the entire coast.

You can purchase a leaflet on coastal fishing at the Læsø Tourist Office.
